My interest in prints started growing when I designed a print for the collection of Hussein Chalayan, while interning there for 8 months. Another work experience at the print and textile development department of Jonathan Saunders confirmed that this was my field of specialization, says Marly.

Being fashinated by turning 2D prints into 3D shapes,  she found a way to design a 3D print where the pattern is part of the print and the print is part of the pattern, just in order to become one.

Sounds interesting, but let’s find out more….

Each print is built up by photographs and has a blue print (patterns) for two, sometimes three different garments to choose from. A personal favorite can be picked to cut out and wear… But how?

The graphics on the flat piece of fabric, guide you. By following the cutting lines, (highlighted by different colors), the chosen garment can be cut out, then only a few points need to be connected (by buttons – attached by hand) and the garment is ready to wear.

 The “Do-It-Yourself-kit” comes with the packaging, the printed fabric, a scissor, a needle &threat and a few buttons. It’s up to you which line to choose, and then cut,  fold and  wear! Ready to go for it?

It’s an  additive color model technique based on the overlapping of 3 different primary colors images, then generating a new resulting print composed by 3 layers easily unveiled through a filter.

Two design-artists, Francesco Rugi and Silvia Quintavilla, who live and work in Milan – Italy – better known as Carnovsky, after launching their RGB wallpapers, are now going fashion with 3 series of  limited edition silk-printed and handmade finished RGB scarves - available in 99 copies + 3 artist proofs -

Well, GEM SESSION a jewels and fashion design brand launched by Sayaka Yamamoto (yes, her name may ring a bell to all of you also furniture design addicted: …does BCXSY sound familar?) thought to put together just old Japanise tradition with contemporary fashion. That’s how Orizuru (Japanise for origami folded-crane) –  a series of six necklaces, especially designed to  accompany a.KNACKFUSS Dako collection- was born…

Each piece is constructed by many paper-folded cranes which are joined together and carefully coated with semi-transparent resin. All the pieces are handmade at the GEM SESSIONS studio in The Netherlands and are finished with high-quality Italian brass components.

The Orizuru necklaces are available in two types – long and short. Each type is available in three different colours – white, salmon-pink and dark-blue

That’s how her Chaos handbags collection took shape: I created the bags through unconventional pattern techniques at the initial construction process, and through structural manipulation, to cause a distortion and determine a new trajectory – a twist in the shape once constructed, producing sculptural, minimal pieces…

Alexandra is mainly based in London, though splitting her time also between New York and Paris, (and sometimes Berlin too), focusing on how merging traditional craftsmanship with innovative techniques and conceptual design.

Today I want to focus mainly on jewellery, says Lucilla, a textile jewellery though often mixed with silver, bronze and  brass sections.  

That’s to say that mixed-media jewellery is her strenght, now broadly appreciated also by international clients throughout US, Japan and HongKong

Emilia Suflet SS 2012′s  collection – a new brand launched by London based designer Adriana Iurascu – also found inspiration in pop/jazz music. Each shoe carries a name of a song that tells a story about women. It represents a character, a world and a way of living, says Adriana – a London College of Fashion graduate – directly from her studio in Southwark, in the heart and buzz of Borough Market.

Her De Fabrica Collection – partly presented in the slideshow below – is mainly centered on materials and shapes investigation. Knitted leather’s potential and the muscles of human body inspired her to develop such a line of sculptural jewelry, easily coiling neck and wrists and fitting like a loosely tailored dress.

…Getting curious? She is Markéta Richterová, and she is making a name in the creative scene quite internationally.

This is Martacarmela Sotelo, a Mexican design-artist who  - after studying architecture at Iberoamericana University in México and graduating with an MA at Central Saint Martins Collage of Art and Design in London –  launched her collections of Knitted Gems - tricot style pearls – and Portable Lines, a series of textile jewellery made up with old t-shirts’s scraps then wrapped and ready to be worn again, but in a different form.

Her last line Geometries  explores the potential of geometrical shapes (..) The pieces are made of silver, blackened silver and/or gold guilded rex, as well as inox steel wire with nylon (…) hanging from cotton hand torched thread.
